How can a User control the quality of a BodyScan?

Summary
The quality of a BodyScan can often depend on the user's behaviour and environment.

There are four important points to remember when completing a BodyScan.

1. Camera height of the phone.

2. Clear and uncluttered environment with enough space (approx. 1-1.5mt).

3. Wear form-fitting clothing.

4. Stand within the outline on the screen.

To find the right height, Users must stand and place the phone camera at hip height. Users can look around to find a flat surface that is roughly the height of the bottom of the phone and allows space to capture the scan.

Users may need to use books or something similar to raise the phone to the height as close as possible.

Users must ensure the phone is positioned close to the edge of the surface and is either able to stand upright or is leaning against a coffee mug, water bottle, or any other stable object.

Users then point the phone camera directly towards the hips, ensuring the on-screen circles align in the middle of the screen, and step back slowly to fit into the outline that appears on the screen. (Please note, BodyScan will not progress until the two circles are aligned).

Elements that could make a scan unsuccessful:

  • Heavy/baggy clothing: The scan cannot easily distinguish between clothing and body outline.  Users must wear form-fitted clothing (compression clothes, fitted gym clothes, swimwear, or underwear to ensure the best outcome.
  • Cluttered backgrounds: pot plants, animals, children, windows, etc... create busyness.  The “cleaner” the background the better. A hallway, closed door, closed blinds on windows/doors are all good places to start.
  • Table/bench/shelf edges:  when positioning the phone on a table/bench/shelf, Users should place the phone closer to the edge to ensure none of the table, etc appears at the bottom of the screen.
  • Hands or feet in the wrong positions: Users must follow the on-screen instructions regarding hand and feet placement.  The camera needs to identify a face, two wrists, and two ankles to complete the scan (hence the phone needing to be on the edge of the table/bench/shelf, if the image inspection process cannot identify the User’s ankles, an error will alert the User that their lower legs cannot be identified).

*When using AHI’s demo app, it is important that only one person conducts BodyScan’s. The AHI demo app is not designed to be shared amongst multiple people and doing so will result in mixed data leading to greater inaccuracies.

This is for the AHI demo app only. Partner or client apps can contain multiple profile settings per device as required.
