How does BodyScan compare to a bioimpedance machine?

Summary
BodyScan technology has shown to be 17% more accurate than a bioimpedance machine.

BodyScan technology has shown to be 90% accurate compared to a gold-standard iDXA machine. A TANITA BC-313 bioimpedance machine has proven to be 73% accurate.

During the training and validation process of BodyScan, the body composition of 929 adults was measured simultaneously by DXA (GE lunar iDXA), a foot-to-foot BIA machine (TANITA BC-313), and BodyScan.

This process proved BodyScan to be more accurate than the TANITA BC-313 (aka bioimpedance machine).

What is a bioimpedance machine?

A bioimpedance machine is a medical device that measures the electrical resistancepedance of biological tissues to the flow of a small electrical current. By measuring this impedance, the machine can provide information about the composition and hydration of different types of tissues, such as muscle, fat, and fluid.
